If you’re looking for great music in a beautiful outdoor amphitheater just a stone’s throw from Big Canoe’s main gate, look no further than the 2016 Terraces Summer Concert Series, sponsored by the Big Canoe Chapel. Set against a gorgeous North Georgia mountain backdrop, the outdoor Terraces Amphitheater seats 1000 people under starry summer skies. Open to the public, bring your own folding chair and a big group of friends to enjoy fabulous live entertainment just a short drive from home.
The 2016 lineup includes a variety of acts in several musical genres, including soul, rock, jazz, reggae, and country. So far this year, the Terraces have hosted Banks & Shane, The Ray Reach Band, and The Soul Purpose Band. On Saturday, July 23, 120 East will rock out with horns, guitars, keys, and more. On Saturday, August 20, Caribbean Steel will play the sweet sounds of tropical reggae, calypso, samba, jazz, Latin, and pop. And to close the season, singer-songwriter Kurt Thomas will bring down the house with his award-winning country music on Saturday, September 3. Thomas has opened for some of the biggest names in country, including Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Although you’ll need to bring your own chair or blanket to the Terraces, it’s likely you won’t be using it for long. Stone steps lead down from the seating area to the dance floor below, and with the exciting music lined up this summer, don’t be surprised when you find yourself itching to get down there and move!
